Saving with Schultzy: Aveeno Hair Care Products on CLEARANCE at CVS!

From friends and family to my high school Italian teacher, my nickname, Schultzy, was adopted by everyone around me, and I can't lie, I have always adored it! (Note: Silly Schultzy signature items of mine shown below.) So, what better way to incorporate my favorite nickname, then to include it with something I equally love, SAVING! Therefore, if you ever see a title on my blog beginning with, "Saving with Schultzy," be prepared to read about an amazing deal going on! Anyway, on to the deal!

I had just joined the ExtraCare Beauty Club at CVS last week and my friendly cashier had informed me, that at the bottom of my receipt I had a ten percent off beauty shopping pass that I could apply to my next purchase! However, the offer would expire after three days! Of course, February 3rd rolled around very quickly and I only had a few hours after work before this coupon expired. Luckily, there is a 24 hour CVS only a few minutes away from my job and I made my initial purchase, but I decided to walk by the beauty aisles once more, and I'm so happy that I did! At the end of one aisle, there was an end cap of clearance items which for the most part wasn't appealing, until I came across these Aveeno hair care products below.

On the left, is the Aveeno Nourish + Style Volumizing Foam that also has a sample of both the Nourish + Volume Shampoo and Conditioner attached to the bottle, and on the right, is the Aveeno Nourish + Style Smoothing Shine Creme that has a sample size (0.3 fl. oz.) of the same product attached to the bottle. So, I quickly snatched these items and brought them to the price scanner to discover that they were only $2.19 each. (They were originally $8.79, which is why it says, "SAVED $6.60," on the receipt shown below.)

So, I knew I had ADDITIONAL savings at home, cough cough, coupons, so I held off until the next morning to go back, and to my surprise they were still there! So, not only were these products on clearance for 75% off their original price, but I also had a $1.50/1 Aveeno Hair Care Product coupon from Smartsource.com! So, each of these products only cost me $0.69 each before tax! After tax for both items, the total came out to $1.77 and my total savings for this transaction was $16.20!

Here are where you can find such Aveeno coupons:
1) $1.50/1 Aveeno Hair Care Product: Expires 02/28/2011 (01/09/11 Smart Source Insert)
2) $1.50/1 Aveeno Hair Care Product: Expires 03/02/2011 (Smartsource.com)

Have you ever tried Aveeno Hair Care Products before? Did you happen to come across this deal? Let me know!

FTC: I am in no way affiliated with Aveeno, CVS, or Smart Source. In addition, I am not being compensated for this post.

As I'm sure many of you know, there is a HUGE beauty clearance currently going on at CVS, and what's better than already discounted makeup? Coupons for additional savings! However, since I have used many coupons in the last week or so, I may not have expiration dates posted simply because, I do not physically have the coupons anymore. CVS Beauty Clearance Hauls!

First, I should prepare you for the SERIOUS bargains that you are about to drool over as you continue reading this post. So, if you don't like to save up to 75% off drugstore makeup (prior to coupons) this isn't the post for you! Also, as you can see from the picture above, I went to CVS well prepared with coupons. Anyway, before I get into the products I picked up, I must give credit where credit is due, and I have to refer my readers to check out G's website, Nouveau Cheap (http://nouveaucheap.blogspot.com/). This blog has a post on quite a detailed list of which products are being discounted for each listed brand, as well as, what coupons G or her readers have found that may be applied to such products. Thank you G, it definitely made my trip to CVS much more efficient!

Anyhow, let the hauling begin!

My first trip to CVS for the Beauty Clearance was Sunday, January 2nd, and I was surprised to see that there was not a single percentage off sticker on ANY products that I saw mentioned on G's website. So, I was that crazy girl at around 8:30 on a Sunday morning walking across the store to price scan a ton of beauty items! However, before I began checking the prices on products, I scanned my CVS card and out printed my quarterly extrabuck earnings. Hello extra dollar off my total! Anyway, after a little over an hour of searching high and low I decided to purchase the items in the image above, and here is what I got:

*Revlon Matte Eye Shadow in Riviera Blue (x2): $5.49 each - 75% = $1.37 each ($2.74 for the two)
*Revlon Super Lustrous Lipgloss in Pink Afterglow: $9.29 - 75% = $2.32
*Revlon Nail Enamel in 914 Tropical Temptation: $5.79 - 75% = $1.45

Total Before Using Extra Care Bucks (ECB): $6.51
- $3.95 ECB
- $1.00 ECB
= $1.56 + $0.49 (tax)
= $2.05

Savings: $24.50

Also, I had $4.54 left on a CVS Money Card, so I didn't pay anything out of pocket for these products! In addition, I was surprised I didn't pick up any products where I could have used a manufacturer's coupon, but as you'll see further below, I went coupon crazy later on in the week.

With $6 in ECB that were going to expire after Thursday, January 6th, I decided to run to my nearest 24 hour CVS at around 10:30 P.M. last Thursday. Before I went on a beauty clearance hunt, I decided to take advantage of the Revlon promotion that was taking place; if you purchased two Revlon cosmetic products or beauty tools you would receive $7 in ECB. So, I bought two Revlon Expert Shapers, as shown above, for $3.19 each. However, here is the math for that transaction:

*Revlon Expert Shapers (x2) = $3.19 each (or $6.38 for the two)
- $6 ECB
= $0.38 + $0.03 (tax)
= $0.41

Savings: $6

With $2.49 left on my CVS Money Card, ($4.54 - $2.05 = $2.49) I clearly had enough to cover this purchase, and better yet, I had earned $7 in ECB to use towards the massive haul you can find below! (Also, I had $2.08 ($2.49 - $0.41 = $2.08) left on my CVS Money Card after this Revlon Expert Shapers purchase.)

As you can see from the image above, I got quite a few AMAZING deals on various beauty products! Also, unlike a few days earlier, there were percentage off stickers on most of the products in this image. So, from left to right lets go over what I purchased:

First Row:
*Sally Hansen Lip Blush Plumping Balm: $11.99 - 75% = $2.99
*Sally Hansen Nail Shine Miracle 10 Day Top Coat: $9.99 - 75% = $2.49
*Sally Hansen Quick Care Strength Treatment: $10.79 - 75% = $2.69
*Sally Hansen Hard as Nails in Sheer Strawberry: $3.19 - 75% = $0.79
*Sally Hansen Hard as Nails in Ice: $3.19 - 75% = $0.79

Second Row:
*Sally Hansen Diamond 12 HR. Lip Treatment in Engaging (x2): $7.39 each - 75% = $1.85 each
*Revlon Nail Enamel in 911 Pink Chiffon: $5.79 - 75% = $1.45
*Physicians Formula Mineral Face Powder in Soft Green = $14.79 - 75% = $3.69
*Rimmel Trio Eye Shadow in 740 Fever: $6.49 - 75% = $1.62
*Rimmel Lashmaxx Mascara with Bonus Soft Kohl Kajal Eye Pencil in Jet Black/Noir: $9.79 - 75% = $2.45

While these prices are pretty darn impressive prior to coupons, I know you want to see how much I really saved below.

So, along with the $7 ECB that I received from my Revlon purchase (third picture from the top), I also took another $7 off my total due to Manufacturer's coupons! Thus, I took a whopping $14 off my total combined! The manufacturer's coupons I used are listed below, and in parenthesis is where you can locate such coupons:

*Sally Hansen: $1 Off 1 Lip Product (Red Plum Insert 01/09/11)
*Sally Hansen: $1 Off 1 Nail Treatment (Red Plum Insert 01/09/11)
*Sally Hansen: $1 Off 2 Nail Colors (Red Plum Insert 01/09/11)
*Sally Hansen: $1 Off Peelie on Nail Shine Miracle 10 Day Top Coat (On Product Itself)
*Rimmel: $1 Off any Rimmel item (AllYou.com)
*Rimmel: $2 Off any Rimmel item (Click the "Like" button on the Rimmel Facebook page)

So, my subtotal came out to $8.66 + $2.01 (tax) = $10.67
- $2.08 left on my CVS Money Card
= $8.59

Thus, I only spent $8.59 out of pocket for all 11 products in the fourth picture from the top! What was even more exciting was to look at the amount I saved for this purchase, which was $82.13! However, I couldn't leave CVS just yet.

Since I had another $2 off any Rimmel item coupon, I decided to go back to the beauty section once more that evening and picked up Rimmel's Moisture Renew Lipstick in Spotlight Beige. I must say for $0.38, yes, you read correctly, $0.38, it was a GREAT buy! Here's the math:

*Rimmel Moisture Renew Lipstick in Spotlight Beige: $8.79 - 75% = $2.19
- $2 Manufacturer's Coupon
= $0.19 + $0.19 (tax)
= $0.38

Savings: $8.60

Have you purchased anything from the CVS Beauty Clearance? Have you found a coupon that I have not mentioned? I would love for you to comment on what you picked up, and leave a link to your blog post showing us what you purchased!

My Experience with the OPI Axxium Soak-Off Gel Manicure!

(Note: Due to the flash on my camera phone, the color of the Hawaiian Orchid Soak-Off Gel Lacquer looks much brighter than how it looks in real life! It is actually quite sheer in person and is a great color to use for a french manicure. I used to be the french manicure queen, we're talking a year or two of straight french manicures, so I would say you should put your french manicure faith in my hands!)

I will be honest, I have fairly long natural nails (minus the one or two that break from time to time hence the extension on my index finger and the wrap on my thumb that I so did not capture in this picture, good job Jenn!) and I can get away with stretching a regular manicure for a good 7 days without it chipping if I apply top coat every night. Nonetheless, I was intrigued by the OPI Axxium Soak-Off Gel Manicure since it isn't supposed to chip for 14 days and there is no dry time with this manicure! No dry time? SOLD!

So, I went to my local salon at around 6:30 in the morning (yes, 6:30, my nail salon is open from 6 AM until Midnight 6 days a week, oh the perks of living in New York) on Tuesday, December 21st and tried to pay attention as best as I could with latte in hand. First, the nail technician did a basic manicure, she filed my nails to make sure that they were even and cleaned underneath the nail. After, she applied a bond to my nails, which apparently helps the Axxium adhere better. Next, she applied a gel base to two fingernails at a time and then directed me to put my hand under the UV light so the base could be "cured." The curing process basically hardened the base so it would be ready for the first coat of color. The technician then applied the first coat of Hawaiian Orchid, and again after two fingernails had the first coat of color on, she instructed me to place my hand under the UV light. As my one hand was under the UV light she began applying the first coat to my other hand. After two coats of Hawaiian Orchid, she then applied the OPI Axxium Soak Off Gel Sealer, which is like a top coat for your basic manicure. Then, it was off to the UV light one last time. Afterwards, she sprayed the OPI Nail Antiseptic Solution onto my fingernails and wiped it off with a nail wipe, and the nails were completely dry! Lastly, cuticle oil was applied to my cuticles and they were pushed back. If you look to the image above, you will see the final result!

I would suggest you continue reading if you want to see how my OPI Axxium Soak-Off Gel Manicure lasted!

I had numerous mini panic-attacks at work that Tuesday since I accidentally banged both of my hands into drawers on quite a few occasions. However, as you can see from this picture above on Wednesday, December 22nd, I was dent free! (In the loser's corner we have drawers!) Now, onto the unfortunate moment when a chip did occur.

It was a cold, dark night, on Thursday, December 30th, and my heart sank a little bit when I heard the gel chip off as I was getting into my car after a long evening at work, but there it was, a chip on my index finger. It was upsetting to see that the manicure couldn't make it to day 14, (it really lasted 10 days if I include the 21st) but I was still impressed overall. Fortunately, since Hawaiian Orchid is so light, it isn't entirely noticeable. The image above was taken on December 31st, and if you look closely you can see that a little bit of the color is chipped off the index finger.

Final Verdict: This manicure was close to four times the price of a basic manicure at my salon; typically I shell out around $7 for a basic manicure and I paid $25 for the OPI Axxium Gel Soak-Off Manicure. The nail salon that my best friend goes to currently charges $20, which is the best price I have heard yet, since this manicure can cost upwards of $50 from the research I've conducted. (Who knows, depending on what city you live in it could even be more!) I think for $25 I will definitely continue to get this manicure, but since the color selection isn't that extensive, just yet, I will definitely go back and forth between the OPI Axxium Soak-Off Gel Manicure, and my basic manicure. I may even go back to french, just not two years in a row!

Have you ever had an OPI Axxium Soak-Off Gel Manicure? What color did your choose? What was your experience like?

FTC: I am in no way affiliated with OPI, nor am I being compensated for my review. This post in its entirety is simply an honest review of my experience with the above-mentioned product.

GlitterBuzzStyle Swag Bag Giveaway Winner!

(Note: When trying to hide an individuals mailing address, simply use greeting card and/or nail salon certificate envelopes and lay such materials on the top of the box, just saying.)

I may not have won the New York Lottery's Take Five game, but I definitely had a "Little Bit of Luck" when it came to winning GlitterBuzzStyle's Swag Bag Giveaway! If you don't know who GlitterBuzzStyle is I suggest you check out Chastity's blog, GlitterBuzzStyle.com after you read this post because, she writes about beauty, trends, and like you can see from my post, she hosts fabulous giveaways! Anyway, keep reading if you want to find out what Chastity included in my Swag Bag!

After a not so fun afternoon at my Periodontist, (I had part one of my gum surgery and it looks like I have a wad of Silly Putty on the right side of my mouth) I was happy to see that my Swag Bag Giveaway package was waiting for me at my doorstep! As soon as I opened the box, I saw Chastity's note congratulating me on winning, which I thought was such a sweet touch. Although I didn't want to open the bag because she laid out the tissue and note card so nicely, I decided to dig in after about oh, 4.5 seconds to see what beauty goodies she sent to me!

Ta-da! As you can see from the image above, she included seven products as well as a few of her adorable bright pink business cards! I decided to showcase all seven products over three "rows" so you can get a better look at each product. Don't worry, you can thank me later!

Beauty for a Bargain at Beautyticket.com

As you can see from my last post, I am a HUGE fan of discounted makeup! My reasoning, is that if I save on makeup I have more money to purchase lattes and if I have more caffeine in me I'll be more alert to write additional posts! I mean really, it's a win-win for everyone here, sort of! Anyway, as you can see from the title this end of the year makeup sale is happening right now on Beautyticket.com. If you haven't heard of Beautyticket.com, I'll excuse you in the meantime, but they have been seen on CBS News, InStyle, Self, Seventeen, and the list goes on and on! So, save your excuses unless you've been living under a beauty rock! What I love about this website is that they sell products from premium beauty brands for up to 85% off the retail price. However, if you think that percentage sounds fairly amazing, you'll be excited to learn that they are allowing customers to take an additional 50 (yes, 5-0) percent off there already discounted prices!

One quality beauty brand that is currently being sold on this website is gloMinerals, and although neither of these products shown are available on Beautyticket.com I just wanted to share with all of you how pigmented their products are! (I know I'm pale, but how pigmented is the gloEye shadow in Orchid?!) Also, 50% off a gloMinerals product on Beautyticket.com could be as low as a $3.50 before tax and shipping, which in Jenn dollar terms is basically the equivalent of a medium iced latte!

So, what are you still doing on my blog? Go to Beautyticket.com now and check out gloMinerals and products from the other fabulous beauty brands that they sell! Afterwards, don't forget to come back here and tell me what you ordered. I would love to hear what you think your best purchase was from this sale!

Note: You can still purchase gloMinerals gloEye shadow in Orchid from the company's website, gloprofessional.com for $18.00. Sadly, the gloLoose eye shadow in Cheerful is no longer available on the gloMinerals website.

The only product that I received for free, is the gloMinerals gloLoose eye shadow in Cheerful when gloMinerals was hosting a free eye shadow promotion on their Facebook page last year. I am not being compensated for this post, I am simply expressing my honest opinions on the products shown in the image in this post.
